About the event
A Unique Wildlife Photography Experience
Guests of this workshop will be lucky enough to photohgraph two of Australia's engaged Black Cockatoos "Captain & Jet" and a stunning Macaw "Harry".
Throughout the session, attendees will experience three different approaches to wildlife photography in a unique studio environment:
Wildlife Portraits
Explore how Brett approaches creating striking animal portraits, including understanding your subject, composition, lighting and the technical decisions that help create memorable images.

Conservation Portraits
Learn how wildlife photography can tell a larger story by combining animals, people and environment.
Working alongside animal keeper Caroline (pictured below), attendees will see how conservation stories are created through portraiture, similar to the work seen across wildlife ambassadors and conservation campaigns.
Meet Caroline!
Hi, I’m Caroline! I’ve been a bird keeper at Symbio Wildlife Park for 9 years, caring for a variety of species including little penguins, wedge-tailed eagles, cassowaries, emus, cockatoos and small aviary birds. My love for birds extends beyond work, and I’m lucky to have my own feathered friends, including my beautiful red-tailed black cockatoo, Archie, who I raised from an egg. Birds are a huge passion of mine, and I love getting to know their unique personalities.

Birds In Flight
Put your skills to the test as I demonstrate the challenges of photographing movement, anticipation, autofocus and timing while capturing birds in flight.

Lighting & Equipment
I have partnered up Nanlite to provide some incredile lighting for our various shooting scenarios. You will learn how artificial light can be used creatively for bird and conservation portraiture.

Not only will you see Sony Alpha cameras and lenses in action, you will get a chance to take advance of a large range of loan equipment on the day (please just remember to bring a SD card). I will also Brett breaking down the autofocus, lens and camera settings I relies on when photographing both controlled portraits and moving subjects.
